Dekaban Fellowship - Eligibility and Application

The Dekaban Fund program is intended for full-time faculty at the Warsaw University of Technology (WUT) and the University of Michigan (UM). The support is provided predominantly for fellowships for WUT junior faculty for a period of 12 months. A completed doctoral degree and full-time employment at WUT are required at the time of application. Successful applicants (Dekaban Fellows) will be employed as Visiting Assistant Professors at the College of Engineering at the University of Michigan. The level of support depends on the availability of funds from the endowment account, and currently, two Dekaban Fellows can be supported simultaneously for a period of twelve months every year.

WUT faculty members should submit fellowship applications electronically during the period of recruitment (typically late spring, check with your Department) to the office of the Vice-Rector for Research ( The application packet (typical deadline May 10) is to include: (1) a cover letter with the statement of purpose including research interests, and (2) current C.V. (use this template). Proposed research needs to be consistent with the research carried out in one of the departments at the UM College of Engineering. Potential candidates are encouraged to search the web sites of the departments of the College of Engineering at UM to identify potential advisors/mentors for the period of the fellowship. They can contact a potential advisor by email prior to applying for the fellowship, or, preferably, contact the Director of the Program, Prof. R. Michalowski (, who will discuss the possibility of mentoring with the potential advisors indicated by the applicant.
